Exposition Background
Shanghai International Science & Art Exposition, as one of the important events of the annual “Shanghai Science and Technology Festival (week)”, has exhibited more than 70 artworks from 11 countries and regions of China, U. S. A., Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Bulgaria, New Zealand, Japan and Taiwan Region, rich in content and forms, with a strong nature of interesting and interactive.
Based on the success of the first Exposition, the 2005 Exposition excavated deeply the meaning of science and art, further expanded the worldwide exchange and cooperation. About 160,000 visitors visited the 4-day exposition, which resulted in a sound social effect. With the great support and active participation by relative departments, the Exposition has stepped further to the consolidated stage.
The 2006 Event further pushed the Exposition into a stable development stage. On the first day of the event, the Exposition welcomed nearly 40,000 visitors, with the highest capacity of nearly 9,000 visitors per hour. Invited by Mr. Shen Wenqing, President of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, Chairman of Shanghai Society of Science and Art, DR. Li Zhengdao, the Renowned Chinese Physicist with American Nationality and the Nobel Prize Winner, Honorary Chairman of Shanghai Society of Science and Art, came all the way from USA to attend the opening ceremony and ink the wash drawing of “the Spring of Science and Art” at the hall entrance, which brought about a brilliant scenery displaying the fine combination of science and art.
The 2007 Exposition entered a new stage of development. Besides appreciation of exhibits in seven exhibition halls, visitors participated in various seminars and attended the multimedia Guzheng concert, thus giving visitors great inspiration and endless pleasure through entertainment-education approaches. After three-year’s deliberate cultivation, Shanghai International Science & Art Exposition has became a platform for the general public to absorb new knowledge in science and art.
Exposition Objectives
With the aim of deepening public perception of sports science & technology in vivid scientific & artistic forms and promoting the realization of beneficial effects & importance of science & technology on sports by finding artistic beauty in sports, this exposition will display the newest achievements in the fields of sports science & technology and sports engineering. It will also propagate the idea of scientific exercise & fitness, i.e. through physical activity and sports, moulding noble sentiments and promoting the physical & mental health as well as attaining aesthetic enlightenment in the spirit.
Exposition Characteristics
With high audience penetration and extensive media coverage in China and around the world, the 2008 Exposition would attract the public participants of different ages, education, experience, professions & cultural backgrounds and let all visitors to experience the charm and imagination of science and art in sports . The 2008 Exposition would continue with our exposition slogan of "Making science come close to the public, and integrating art into our life”.
